- The 4-Hour Burn Test: Never sell or gift a candle without testing it first. Burn the candle for 3 to 4 hours on the first test to establish a proper melt pool that reaches the edges of the container, preventing tunneling.
- Re-Lighting While Hot: Never re-light a hot candle. Wait until it cools completely (3–5 hours) before re-lighting to prevent excess soot and carbon buildup.
- Maturation (Curing) Time: Patience is key. Let your soy candles cure for at least 3 to 7 days (up to 6 weeks in other references for heavy fragrance loads) before burning. This allows the soy molecules and fragrance oil to fully bind, resulting in a much stronger hot throw.
