Candle Jar Safety

A Shared Responsibility

When it comes to making and enjoying candles, safety is everything—and it starts long before the candle is lit. At every stage of the candle’s life—from the supplier, to the maker, to the end user—each plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.

When it comes to making and enjoying candles, safety is everything—and it starts long before the candle is lit. At every stage of the candle’s life—from the supplier, to the maker, to the end user—each plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience.

1. The Supplier: Providing Safe, High-Quality Jars

At Pino Village, we take jar safety seriously. All of our candle jars are made from thick, high-quality glass—not recycled or thin glass, and never jars with visible air bubbles or cracks. Our jars are tested to withstand temperatures up to 250°F (121°C), ensuring they perform safely under normal candle burning conditions. Choosing a reputable supplier is the first step in minimizing risks.

2. The Maker: Responsible Candle Crafting

Candle makers must inspect jars before use—never use cracked, chipped, or damaged containers. These imperfections can lead to breakage when the jar is heated. Proper wick selection, correct pouring temperatures, and appropriate fill levels are all part of creating a safe product. Testing is essential—a beautiful candle must also be a safe one.

3. The End User: Smart Burning Habits

Even the safest candle needs responsible use. Here are a few key tips for candle users:

  • Trim the wick to ¼ inch (about 0.6 cm) before each burn.
  • Never burn a candle for more than 3–4 hours at a time.
  • Stop using the candle when about 1 cm (½ inch) of wax remains at the bottom.
  • Keep candles away from drafts, children, and pets.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.

In Summary

Candle safety is a shared responsibility. From us as suppliers, to the talented makers crafting each candle, to the users enjoying them at home—every step matters. By working together and following best practices, we can keep the glow strong and the experience safe.
